The push and pull factor of life.

The push factor. We need to push ourselves to do it. We procrastinate. We feel bad and guilty when we’re not doing it. We count the minutes, the seconds, when we’re doing it. We lose energy when we start doing it. It could be our relationships, our jobs, our lives.

The pull factor. It nudges us gently over and over again like a child that is pulling at her mother’s skirt hem for attention. When we start going in the direction of the nudge, it starts pulling us more and more, until we are caught up in a strong current.

We find we can’t hold on anymore to what we thought we should have, we should be.

We float on our backs, going feet first to try and avoid the sharp edges.

We take a deep breath.

There is no other choice but to let go.

We let go.

There is a pause.

There is always a pause with transitions and change. Sometimes it’s seconds, it could end up a few days, or even a few years as has been the case for me.

In that pause there is fear and excitement.

And energy.

We have created a spark.

We have ignited our dreams.
