World Food Day Virtual Communal Table with Chef Caroline
Online Event
Join me for a special five-course take out dinner in honour of World Food Day on Friday, October 16.
These are brave new times. How can we remain connected when the pandemic has brought social isolation even more to the forefront?
My solution is a virtual communal table on Zoom, in collaboration with Chef Neil Mather and the Lord Elgin Hotel!
Before the event, you can choose to pick up your dinner or have it delivered to your home. Then you’ll have the option of gathering with other diners at 7 pm.
I’ll introduce the dishes and talk about my experience in Japan. Moe Garahan from Just Food will speak about how her organization is working toward a safe and equitable food supply system in Ottawa during the pandemic. You’ll have the opportunity to ask us questions.
The inspiration for the menu has come from my time in Japan and the fall season bounty. The entire menu will be vegan and gluten-free, and made with natural and seasonal ingredients, and lots of love.
World Food Day is observed every year on October 16 to strive to eradicate hunger across the world.
A portion of the dinner proceeds will go to Just Food, our event partner, and the Lord Elgin Hotel‘s Stop Hunger Foundation supporting the Ottawa Food Bank.
To learn more about JustFood programs (https://justfood.ca) and the Ottawa Food Bank (www.ottawafoodbank.ca/) and how to get involved, please visit their websites.
I am excited to feed you and our community!
With love and gratitude, Caroline
